About DeskLook for Outlook Extend your Outlook® to interactive desktop and keep its data always in sight!DeskLook for Outlook reads tasks and appointments directly from your Outlook and shows them conveniently on the interactive desktop together with a calendar for three months. It can also count unread email messages in selected folders and show that information on the desktop, too. Everything you see is interactive so you can simply double click an appointment directly on the desktop to get it opened in Outlook, or double click the contacts link to bring up Outlook Contacts, etc. When it comes to desktop appearance you can choose between the customizable side bar and the fixed central view on your data. Both views are carefully designed and available in three different styles with changeable transparency. DeskLook for Outlook is able to start Outlook by itself so you can use its launch on startup option to have both programs automatically started each time you switch on your computer. Finally, you can set the program's taskbar icon to pop-up the central data view on a double click. Useful notes: 1) If your Windows is 64-bit make sure you download and install the corresponding 64-bit version of DeskLook for Outlook. 2) DeskLook for Outlook reads and displays data from Outlook according to settings you have for Outlook Today. So, if you want to make some adjustments open your Outlook, go to Outlook Today and click Customize Outlook Today. There you have options to set how many days in the future you want to have displayed in the Calendar section, choose what kind of tasks to display and how you want them sorted and choose folders to display in the Messages section. 3) While DeskLook for Outlook is running it keeps
constant
connection with Outlook's COM interface. As a side-effect the
Outlook's engine remains in memory even if Outlook itself is closed so
your reminders will continue to work normally and pop-up in due time.
That also means that Outlook's .PST file remains locked for as long as
DeskLook is running. Therefore before you can do anything with
.PST files (e.g. backup) you first have to make sure that both Outlook
and DeskLook for Outlook are closed down so Outlook's engine
is
released from memory and lock on .PST files removed. Microsoft and Microsoft Office Outlook are either registered trademarks or trademarks of Microsoft Corporation in the United States and/or other countries. |
